This is a very common movement in tango. You see it everywhere in vals, milonga and everything from the 90 year olds to the most ‘nuevo’. Its often hidden in turns, angles wide and narrow and speed, but its there.
If there is a spanish name for this movement I’d love to know!
Next time we’ll look at the movment with a partner, add more details and play with variations.

* This Friday there will be a milonga at Studio B beginning with a class with Brigitta at 8:30pm and dancing at 9:30pm. Mike McCarrel from Portland will be DJing.

This is a busy month for me.
-I just taught at the last Tango de los Muertos in Boston this past weekend and had a lovely time.
-This weekend is Brigitta in Eugene.
-Tues I fly to Houston to teach for a week. Friday Yoga workshop, Sat tango workshop and DJing 3 different events.
-The following Tues, I’m in Ashland for a day of teaching privates, 2 workshops and guiding a practica.
-The last weekend in Nov is Turkey tango in Ashland. Then St. Louis (will I be going???)
